Description |
This view depicts the starboard side of the three-masted "St. Peter" under full sail. "St. Peter Boston" is painted on the stern. Flags and pennants are waving from the masts, and an American flag is flying aft. Various other ships are seen on either side and in the distance, and a lighthouse is on the shore in the left background. The painting is signed in the lower right: Jan Mooy | 1824. Jan Mooy was a Dutch painter who specialized in marine art and watercolor. |
