Description |
This single flue harpoon head with a cuff collar is stamped "Bk MERC...Y" for the "Bark Mercury," a New Bedford whaling ship that made seven voyages between 1855-1879. This harpoon was probably made for the bark's 1855 voyage. The harpoon is also stamped "J. Macy," a maker's mark attributed to a Josiah Macy who worked in New Bedford between 1842-1857. |
